Memorial Day 2012 and Backyard Barbecues Can Spell a Recipe for Arizona DUIs

Conf_room_56_low_res

Peoria, Ariz. – Backyard barbecues are a staple of Memorial Day weekend. The traditional start of summer in Arizona, the long three-day weekend can also be the start of a very long and costly Arizona DUI charge.

And according to the DUI defense lawyers at Corso & Rhude, it doesn’t need to be a wild night of partying that triggers the Arizona DUI charge. Backyard barbecues and pool parties on Memorial Day usually include a last-minute trip to the store for hot dog buns or propane. It’s then that many people usually find themselves getting arrested for a DUI.

“DUIs are very common during the summer months,” said Christopher Corso, of the Law Office of Corso & Rhude. “And many times they happen very close to home, when you relax your standards and don’t think twice about driving to the store after having a couple of beers.”

Corso and his law partner John Rhude know from experience the problems that can arise from backyard barbecues with family during Memorial Day weekend. Both attorneys previously prosecuted DUIs, DWIs and OUIs for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. Combined, Corso and Rhude have handled more than 15,000 DUI cases as prosecutors and defense attorneys.

Since Memorial Day is typically associated with a long three-day weekend and the start of summer, drivers are commonly distracted and many times inebriated. In fact, more than 300 people were cited for DUIs during Memorial Day weekend last year in Arizona.

“Memorial Day is one of the deadliest holidays to drive each year,” Rhude said, citing a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report. “Adding alcohol to that mix is a recipe for disaster.”

Arizona law requires that any person found guilty of drinking and driving (even a first offense) serve jail time. And DUI convictions can also include extensive fines up to $2,500, suspension of driving privileges and the installation of an ignition interlock device – even for first offenders.

“That’s a lot of hassle and expense to put up with just because you ran out of propane,” said law partner Christopher Corso.

The Arizona DUI defense attorneys at the Law Office of Corso & Rhude do everything in their power to protect defendant’s families and advocate for their rights. They have the experience and expertise to deal with DUI charges in Arizona and will fight to get the charges dismissed and preserve their family.

Every DUI defense case in Arizona is different, however, and the outcome is dependent upon the specific facts and circumstances surrounding the DUI charges, which makes having an experienced Arizona DUI defense attorney even more important.

The Law Office of Corso & Rhude has quickly built a reputation for its vigorous defense of clients, using its lawyers’ previous experience with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and other prosecutorial agencies to assist its clients with their criminal defense cases.

In addition to DUI defense, the Law Office of Corso & Rhude handles all criminal defense cases, including domestic violence defense, possession of drugs, felony drug charges, photo radar, criminal speeding, disorderly conduct and marijuana possession.

The experienced criminal defense lawyers at Corso & Rhude serve clients throughout Arizona, including the cities of Ahwatukee, Avondale, Buckeye, Chandler, El Mirage, Gilbert, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Sun City, Surprise, Tempe, Tolleson and Youngtown.

Law Office of Corso & Rhude Adds Family Law Practice to Scottsdale Office

Conference_room_vanity

Scottsdale, Ariz. – The Law Office of Corso & Rhude is adding a family law practice specializing in divorce and child custody cases to its already successful Arizona criminal defense practice based out of the firm’s Scottsdale Airpark offices.

Founded by former Maricopa County Attorney’s Office prosecutors Christopher Corso and John Rhude, the Law Office of Corso & Rhude has quickly garnered a reputation for its effectiveness in the courtroom and for being a strong advocate of defendants’ rights. Corso said clients will quickly learn that these same traits will be applied to family law cases such as divorce, child custody issues, alimony issues and divorce mediation.

“It’s our philosophy that every client deserves to have a highly-trained, compassionate advocate on their side in the courtroom,” Corso said. “Too many times that doesn’t happen in the family court system. We aim to change that.”

The law firm, which first opened its doors in 2007, is having a successful year. In addition to adding the family law practice, Corso & Rhude has also doubled the size of its staff and moved into new offices in Scottsdale. The new location, twice the size of the firm’s previous offices, is located in the Northsight Financial Center at 14500 N. Northsight Blvd., Suite 116 in Scottsdale, and will serve as the firm’s Arizona headquarters as it continues to grow.

“It’s important to us that the firm continues to move along the growth lines we first charted when we opened in 2007,” said Christopher Corso. “As our case load has increased, so has the demand for additional attorneys and additional office space. Our new location satisfies those requirements and our family law practice answers the requests we’ve been receiving for some time.”

Both Corso and Rhude point to their business philosophy as the main catalyst for the company’s fast growth.

“As a rule, we stress both a personal touch with all of our clients and a commitment to delivering the fairest results,” Corso said. “We’ve drawn on our experience as former prosecutors to develop successful strategies for defending our clients in Arizona courtrooms. Our approach to practicing law begins and ends with making sure each and every client receives the most professional representation possible.”

In addition to Arizona divorce cases, the Law Office of Corso & Rhude handles all Arizona family law cases, including child custody, child support issues, alimony disputes, divorce mediation, spousal support issues and visitation rights.

The experienced family law attorneys at Corso & Rhude serve clients throughout Arizona, including the cities of Ahwatukee, Avondale, Buckeye, Chandler, El Mirage, Gilbert, Glendale, Goodyear, Mesa, Peoria, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Sun City, Surprise, Tempe, Tolleson and Youngtown.

Taylor Morrison’s New Denver Homes Selling Quickly This Spring

Cambridge-1243-web

Denver, Colo. – New home sales are up dramatically for Taylor Morrison’s Colorado division this spring, as homebuyers in Denver quickly secure new homes in the builder’s latest communities in Arvada, Parker and Broomfield, with more to soon arrive in Golden.

So far this spring, Taylor Morrison’s newest communities have been met with a resounding stamp of approval by Denver homebuyers. More than 300 homebuyers showed up for the March 16 grand opening of the Lakes at Westwoods in Arvada. Interest is just as high for Taylor Morrison’s Wildhorse Ranch, which debuts in Golden in late May, and where company officials look to capitalize on the double-digit sales happening throughout the division.

“There’s been a lot of interest in our communities this year, especially with our new homes in Golden,” said Kip Gilleland, president of Taylor Morrison’s Denver division. “Denver residents understand that right now is an excellent time to buy a new home – especially if they can find a Taylor Morrison home in a desirable city like Golden, Arvada, Parker or Broomfield.”

The Colorado homebuilder announced in April that all of its new home communities will now carry energy ratings based on the nationally-recognized system HERS®Index ratings, giving Denver homebuyers an opportunity to discover the most energy-efficient home available for their family. The HERS®Index is part of the company’s new “Elem3nts” program, which stresses environment, energy and efficiency in the building of new Taylor Morrison homes.

The HERS®Index is based on four main components – assessment of building components, diagnostic and performance testing, energy modeling and a final report which delivers the energy rating for the home. The rating system is based on a scale of zero to 150, with a lower number indicating better energy efficiency. A typical new home built in the U.S. averages a score of 100, with older homes scoring closer to 130. By comparison, Taylor Morrison Denver has homes that have earned scores of 65.

“Today’s homebuyers are interested in keeping costs controllable,” Gilleland said. “The Elem3nts program quantifies for them just how cost-effective our homes can be.”

Taylor Morrison has seven communities throughout the Denver area, including the recently unveiled Lakes at Westwoods in Arvada and Wildhorse Ranch in Golden, which is now open for presales.

The Lakes at Westwoods offers new Denver homes for sale that include 3 to 5 bedrooms with 2 to 3.5 baths and will range from 2,638 to 3,534 square feet. The community includes great views of the Rocky Mountains and is bounded by Broad Lake to the north and Hyatt Lake to the south with plenty of open space surrounding the neighborhood. Retail shopping, restaurants, and a newly remodeled supermarket are also located nearby.

Wildhorse Ranch in Golden also offers terrific amenities and the quality of homes that Denver home buyers have come to expect from Taylor Morrison. Interest in the community is so strong that Taylor Morrison began presales early.

With Denver-area homes for sale from Broomfield to Parker and Arvada in between, Taylor Morrison has more than a half dozen communities showcasing new homes in Denver.

Taylor Morrison Colorado Unveils Energy-Saving “Elem3nts” Program in Time for Earth Day 2012

Cambridge-1119-web

Denver, Colo. – Colorado residents will be able to breathe easier and pay lower heating bills next winter if they take advantage of the new energy-conscious HERS®Index homes that Taylor Morrison Colorado unveiled on Earth Day.

The Colorado homebuilder announced April 22 that all of its new home communities will now carry energy ratings based on the nationally-recognized system, giving Denver homebuyers an opportunity to discover the most-energy efficient home available for their family.

Taylor Morrison Colorado currently builds six new home communities in Denver, with another neighborhood debuting in Golden this summer and one debuting in Broomfield in the fall. All of the communities will now carry the HERS®Index ratings, Division President Kip Gilleland said.

“While Earth Day celebrates being environmentally friendly once a year, we take great pride in the natural beauty of Colorado every day of the year,” Gilleland said. “This new program will help Denver residents preserve that beauty while lowering their energy costs at the same time.”

The index is part of the homebuilder’s new Elem3nts program, which stresses environment, energy and efficiency. Starting on Earth Day, Taylor Morrison communities across the country will display the HERS®Index ratings of the homes built in the community.

The independent HERS®Index system provides a home energy rating that homebuyers can use to quickly compare similar products, making it easier for them to select a home that not only fits their lifestyle, but also offers the lower-energy costs of a more energy-efficient home.

“We always strive to build the best homes we can,” said Sheryl Palmer, Taylor Morrison president and CEO. “Part of that means creating communities that offer the best possible environments in which to live. But we must also concern ourselves with the larger environment – our eco-environment – and the HERS®Index helps us measure our progress.”

Palmer said the Elem3nts program offers homebuyers peace of mind in the construction of their home and the opportunity to save money on their utility bills.

“We believe your home should operate as efficiently as possible so you can enjoy cooler summers, warmer winters and lower energy bills,” Palmer said. “Our homes are built to maximize that energy efficiency and the HERS®Index helps us communicate that to buyers.”
